To the local government office to renew my license plate. I renewed it whilst sitting in my house coat, having a cup of tea, and puffing on a cigarette. No shuffling line-up; no people bumping into me; no having to listen to people complain to the clerk; and no having to drive there and back in the pouring rain. Aint computers great? No big deal (as someone famous once said); however, I thought I’d share it with you.

I'll have to look to see if there are various rates depending upon number of cylinders etc. Twofeathers, my planting those road signs made the local residents hopping mad!
Every second year we have to get an "emissions test" done by a qualified mechanic. If your engine emits pollutants over a certain limit you just can't renew your license: you have to get the problem fixed and have the test done again.
WE have an MOT test for that every year(and it must conform or you do not pass) THEN road tax which is what were talking here, and then you have to insure yourself to drive the vehicle! Very expensive business.
If we don't get the engine emitting within the limits, we just simply cannot get a renewal: you can't drive that car (legally) at all. Anyway, I'm off across the sogging field now...Cheers.
