just had my sis on the phone concerned that she has to relight her boiler, it says on it to wait until the boiler cools before pressing reset button but she doesn't know if she then has to switch heating on or not before she resets it, its not windy there she says so maybe has another problem that needs looking into, any help would be great, she basically said it will only fire up until temperature reached then wont fire up to put heating on again, if that makes sense

Jes........

Combi or conventional boiler?
Is hot water working?
Question Author
just checked with her its a normal boiler, and hot water ok
If the hot water is Ok, then the boiler is firing up and shouldn't need resetting.

It sounds as though the changeover valve is not directing the water to the heating when it's called for. Either that, or a simple (cheap) thermistor (sort of thermostat) is faulty.

Either way, a boilerguy is needed to check it over.

Nothing you can do yourself I'm afraid, Jes.

thanx builder, she says she has her boiler serviced every july and its not old, about 6 years and is gonna ring them tomorrow to get them out, at least she still has heating and hot water, so will get it sorted before weather gets bad, hope it doesn't cost a lot to get them out
