jno, as Prime Minister he had to praise the man at this time - it is his job and now is not the time to make mealy mouthed excuses.

He has met and spent time with Mr Mandela and in 2006 said that Thatcher and the Conservative Party had been wrong to describe Nelson Mandela as terrorists.

That was a huge thing for a Conservative party member to say.

so it was.
Love your post Maggie and totally agree !
maggiebee - If you ever manage to punch him right on the kisser, give him another one from me.
I think sometimes a punch on the kisser is the only way......one for me too if you get the chance, Maggie....no reason...just in a rare and crotchety mood today...... :-(
he is an Yabbie end of.....................
hmm ab changed my word to yabbie lol
seriously what do you want him to say?
I don't mind Cameron..........
He made his apologies in 2006. Mr Mandela refused to meet Mrs Thatcher but was happy to spend time with Mr Cameron.

I am no fan of the Conservative party but I do think Mr Cameron has done the country proud on this day.
He has sent sympathy on behalf of the country and not taken any of the limelight from the death of Mr Mandela - which would have happened had he chosen to say nothing or add anything about what he may or may not have done in the 80s.

It was a massive thing he did in 2006 when he stated categorically that Mrs Thatcher and the Conservative Party was wrong to label Mr Mandela and the ANC as terrorists and for that we should applaud him.

He's apologised some years ago - what do you expect him to do? Representing this country, he's done exactly the right thing in speaking now about Mandela in the way he has.
I don't mind Cameron, things have changed over the years. Winnie Mandela was the one to be feared. Even after Nelson was imprisoned she was still the one with the bully boys and the burning tyre, so lets not get carried away terrorism was rife in SA.
Mandela was a terrorist,he was a member of at least 2 violent groups in South Africa,he was a violent murderer. While leading his 2 groups he signed death warrants for 100s of men, women and children,if you want to know the real Mandela just google that. When he got sentenced to life imprisonment he only just escaped the death penalty, most people remember what he did after release from prison, not prior to prison. How he is revered the world over beggars belief,he was a violent, murdering scumbag.I knew he was a bad person,I didnt realise just how bad till I read the true story.
razza, i did post a link to that info, and was by and large ignored and told this was not the time...
as to Cameron, others have said the same and i say again, what else could he do,
didnt see it emmie, what else could he do,are you on about Cameron or Mandela
