Yesterday Evening I Made A Big Decision.

The TV in the bedroom was going downstairs and outside, even if it was in pieces. It nearly broke my back getting it to the floor. It is the old type (though not that old) and is a 28" and weighs a ton, well it felt like a ton. I got in front of it and slid it down the stairs one step at a time. By the time I got to the bottom I was knackered, and I still had to get it outside. Half an hour later I achieved my goal. I was really pleased with myself that I had managed it without broken glass anywhere.
I was going to ring the local council this morning to take it away. They charge £15. Imagine my surprise when I went outside and it was gone. Well that's saved me £15 I thought. Then I thought, Who is lurking about in the pitch black? Scary.

Good !..last time I put unwanted furniture out for collection it was also spirited away !

At least you saved £15, but as you say who took it. Probably just someone walking past, and thought I will have that.

I came back one time to find one of the district nurses pulling away from a 'layby' and looking very sheepish. There behind in the space was a massive old telly like yours, Jeza.

I went and turned around and caught her about a mile up, before turning down a lane towards Truro. My pitch.....

"Well, I am not going to come out and accuse you of having just dropped that TV back there but put it this way, I'm heading the other way to the village shop and when I get back, if it is still there, I will call the Council and the police out and they can lift finger prints off it. Flytipping is a major nuisance in Cornwall and I know the council don't take well to it, as I have been in contact with them and Sarah Newton our MP, the fines are quite considerable, never mind the reputation damage. Bye."

Guess what - ten minutes later, when I did come back from the shop (needing stamps up there) it had gone......
