I received a text earlier from the woman that works at the Rhythm and Booze up the road asking if I can 'pick locks'. It turns out that the owner hasn't paid the electricity bill and they have been cut off. I've offered to guard the shop over night as the shutters are electric. It WILL be broken into otherwise.

I must be mad!

Buenchico: it doesn't belong to Rhythm and Booze anymore. They sold a load of the shops.

The owner is an idiot and I managed to get the shutters down. I don't care about the shop or its owner(s). I care about the staff though especially the woman I now call my friend. I don't have many friends and the last thing I want to happen is for her to come to harm or not even have a job to come back to. I went up there with candles, a flask and a hot water bottle for her. She's at least twice my age (so not young) and I felt sorry for her being stuck in a shop on her own in the dark up till 9pm. So I stayed with her and had a laugh with the punters coming in - following them round with a candle so they could see where they were going.
Glad it passed without incident and she is lucky to have you as a friend too.

I did call the police before I even considered staying over night. Mainly to cover my own back just in case they decided to walk past and see someone in the shop crashed out over a load of Carling cases with a dog slobbed out on the floor.

and.. the owner finally turned up at just gone 9pm. The electric had been off since 1pm. I had to laugh though when he turned up. My friend had hold of him as soon as he got through the door. "What bleeding time do you call that? I've had customers coming in asking if I'm OK and this lad here has not only stayed here until you arrive he's also brought a flask of coffee, candles and bleeding hot water bottle". All he said was "oh right yeah thanks". It won't be there much longer so.
so you didn't stay the whole night ?
Question Author
No way. I got the shutters down that is all that matters. If we couldn't of put them down the shop would of been done over. I try and help anyone I can and if it wasn't for my friend working there then I wouldn't of helped the 22 year old muppet that has no idea of running a business.
mate your stories are hilarious ha ha only you could get everyone going about a self-confessed alcoholic guarding an offy priceless!
