Has anyone ever used mashed potato when making cake's?

looking at the reviews it seems to work but my wife is a bit dubious?

I've never used spuds in a cake before but I think that'll work. Let us know how it goes.
There are some extraordinary recipes for gluten free baking, some of them are quite good!

It sounds weird but don't knock it until you've tried it.
I've tried it in a Christmas pud and it was v nice. Have a go, the worst that can happen is your garden birds get a bit porky!!!
I haven't heard of using mash before, but I figure if one can create "flour" from spuds to make potato cakes, it can't be such a weird idea.
Ib Brazil, when folks are having a party, they'll often make a special cake based on mashed potato alone, using no flour.
How did it turn out?
Ive made potato cobblers (Like scones) using leftover mash. Quite nice
