Looking to start up a competitive Lan gaming session for a small group of teenagers. Has anyone got any ideas of what Lan games I should introduce to them?

I've heard that Red faction is OK at some LAN Parties for this but not Red faction 2 as it has no multiplayer option.

Computer spec is 2.5Ghz Celeron with 19.1GB Hard drive and S3 SavageDDR video card if that's of any help

Ideally for a LAN game you should have better spec computers. As a fairly broad generalisation the newer games are more fun to play e.g. Counter Strike Source (original CS should be playable on those computers) and Call of Duty 2 are very popular over LAN however these will be almost unplayable on those computers.

Also you don't mention about the genre of game you wish to play. Strategy games are also fun over a LAN try one of the Command and Conquer games.

Hope this helps!

Unreal Tournament is always a winner altho not my cup of tea.

also, you do know that each member of the lan has to have the game ?

UT2004 would be my suggestion, has loads of different multiplayer game types, I play this online a lot, but just make sure you have plenty of time.

As already mentioned, all players will need a copy of the game.

If you can find a copy of the original carmaggedon, this is excellent fun as a multiplayer game.
