can my son rent my council house?

I am moving out of my council house, to buy a new property.
i have lived there with my son who is 24 for 24 years, Can he continue to live there, if he pays the rent etc?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Before I bought my council house I applied for my daughters name to go jointly on rent book .I was told that joint tenancy was not allowed with a son or daughter.I wanted this so as my daughter wouldnt be homeless when I passed on. But is not like having your own house and being passed down to your son he would probably be offered a flat or more than likely have to go on the list as there are families waiting on houses. only YOUR council can tell you this as all councils are different. My daughter was also registered as living here
