Setting Google Chrome Homepage

When I click on google chrome the page that opens only shows the option to click on Chrome Web Store. I would like it to be the google homepage that I used to get with the options of going directly to Maps, Images etc.

I can see where to set the homepage in the settings and google is already selected.

What do I need to do?

Thanks.

I am thinking that perhaps you are looking for the Google Home Page.

If so, you can access it by clicking what looks like a little house, on the top left hand side of the page which is opened to you.

I could be wrong because I very rarely use Chrome. Much prefer Firefox as my default Browser.

Thanks Alston. Yes the little house opens the page that I am after but I was just wondering if I can set it so that the page opens automatically without me having to click on it?
Tools > Preferences
Make sure that Start with Home Page is selected
Click the "three bars" top right.

Click "Settings" - click "Open a specific page or set of pages (Set pages)"

Use - http://google.co.uk/

Click "Ok"
Ignore what I have just posted. Just do as suggested by Lie-in King.

His method is so easy....I have just tried it and it works a treat.

King - that is what I have done however it is still opening the Chrome Web store page. Dont know what I'm doing wrong. It isnt a great hardship to click on the wee house but it is frustrating to know why I can't get the settings to work.
Have you tried my suggestion?
Sorry ignore the above which are instructions for Opera.

Thanks anyhow chrisgel.
shivvy - you've clicked the blue "(Set pages)", yes?

That should open a small box that allows you to enter the address of the page you want, in - "Enter URL" - then click "OK".

If it doesn't work, I'm at somewhat of a loss to explain why, I'm sorry.
Question Author
Yup, thats what I have done. I tried the .co.uk as well as the .com address too.

Aw well. As I say it's no big deal really. Thanks for your help though.
Come on shivvy; don't give-up on this one.

Where it says 'Enter Url' I copied and pasted into the box the link given by L-i-K ..... http://google.co.uk/

If it still doesn't work then I think there could be some sort of 'nasty' in your comp which we can then sort-out, as another matter.

Please post further.

Ok something strange has happened Al. It definitely wasn't working but I left the computer and when I came back to it 3 pages were open and they were all the Google homepages!
So it is working now - go figure!

However I have another quick query if you are interested?

When I click on links to websites the webpage opens in Internet Explorer and not Google Chrome. How do I change that?
The easiest way is to close Google Chrome.
When you re open it, it should ask if you want Chrome to be your default browser.
Click "Yes"
Question Author
It's ok Al - I answered that question myself! I found the 'default browser' and clicked on it.

All is well in my world now!! Thanks for all your help - and tenacity!!
So glad you've sorted it out - however it worked! :-)
Cheers. I still say that computers have minds of their own and change their behaviour when one's back is turned.
