Hi all - as usual a silly & unimportant Q from me!

When I open Chrome the Tab says "Google" - my "Startup Page" is set to ...google.co.uk

I then look something up, follow a few pages & want to return to the homepage, so use the back arrow, reach the homepage & the Tab says "New Tab", not "Google". A right-click "reload" turns it back to "Google" - what setting have I got wrong?

I've a Dell Inspiron 7520 running Win 8.1.

As always, thanks for your time & attention :-)

an indirect answer, but if you just want to get to your homepage is there a little house icon (there is on Firefox) or similar that you can click on?
I was going to say the same as jno, as I use that, so I'll just say Hello and I hope you are well xx

Hi guys - thanks, I'm well & hope you are too :-)

jno - there is a "Homepage" icon in Chrome which makes it worse as it throws me to "New Tab" & the "Reload" then ceases to work!

This is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but it's irritating nevertheless.
same here L-iK

my homepage is set as that pinko lefty newspaper, but when I use the little house icon after navigating, I just get the new tab page back
I'm more familiar with nWin7, so this may be of no help, Mr King. Win7 has a "button for all your various options. Inside it, there is a "settings" option.

In there you can set your Homepage of course, but you can also set the action taken when searching or reverting to your original.

Look for something like ........... "open searches in a New Tab". That is possibly the one you want to disable.
I have lost all faith in everything which involves Google. Enough has been written about Chrome being the un-safest of Browsers; so much so that no longer is it installed as a 'back-up' on my computer. Furthermore, I refrain from using Google as a Search Engine.

Hans.
