Two lovely old ladies just knocked on my door. I didn't want to answer, as I knew who they were, but in my quest of 'being a better person' (and the fact it is raining!) I answered.

I told them I didn't feel well and now was not a good time - which is true.
BUT... rather than just leave it at that, I said "but please do come back another time"....??!! Why!!!
They were really pleased with that and said "oh thank you (surprised tone). We will".

They've given me three leaflets to "read through when I'm feeling better".

One of them is a copy of the current Watchtower, the next one is a "One Man Died For All" leaflet, and the other (bizarrely) is "How To Be A Good Father".... er....

Are you as polite to JW's, or do you tell them where to go?

I find they don't bother you is you explain you are a Satanist and you are actively looking for servants of God to sacrifice at the next Sabbat. Pity really, because the Satanist movement could do with a few more converts.

Must live in a religious backwater. No JWs or Mormons ever call.
Well glad it did. Of course the sad irony is that these failed endtime predictions fit in equally well with the two ideas (i) the whole thing is wrong and (ii) At various points the Bible warns against "false prophets", which is exactly what these are, therefore we'd expect this in the Bible, therefore everything is still going according to God's Word. Not saying that (ii) is wrong (although I think it is) but it's a weird viewpoint where both negative and positive outcomes strengthen the faith!
I make OH open the door and he tells them where to go.
I don't answer the door to them or anyone else for that matter. Unless I know who is calling.
I remember them stopping us as kids coming out of primary school with their weird booklets. I hope that wouldn't be allowed now.
Years ago I lived not far from Kingdom Hall. They were and still are a bloody nuisance.
STOP PRESS !

I have been working in a very working class area of a town in the South Wales Valleys, and the JH'ers have been out in force. Going abut my duties and keeping myself to myself, if you know what I mean, but keeping my ears open, I have heard some very ripe responses on the doorsteps to these pests. Nobody seemed to be giving them any attention whatsoever.

As they dress like most people would dress if they were going to a wedding, and they carry briefcases ( ! ) its a wonder that anybody opens the door to them at all.

I used to be in Sales and Marketing and these people would be given the sack on day one. They are so obviously Jehovahs !
After I have explained to them why their religion disgusts me they tend to want to get out!

"As they dress like most people would dress if they were going to a wedding,"

Lol. In the 80's maybe! :)

"and they carry briefcases ( ! )"

My ex, who was brought up as a JW, was made to take a briefcase to school. Yes, SCHOOL! :-(
