Message on screen says:- No satellite signal being received. [29]. We've done all the pulling out the plug and switching back on again without any success.
Mr. c has been hanging on the phone for 25 minutes or more. He is fuming because he's missing Top gear.

I hate it when that happens, heavy rain does it here. We do what you're doing, usually works
If you have Heavy rain or Snow that is most likely the cause.

Have you checked All the Sky channels for a 'No Signal' fault.

There is also some interesting diagnostic info posted here :-

so much for digital high tech stuff, no telly because snow on dish, never had this problem with the old system, looks like I may have to talk to him, nothing else to do.
Cupid, tell him to clear snow off the dish, then go through the routine then you can talk to us
I lose Sky every time it rains, have you not had it long?
Ours is off too, but it is covered in snow!

Anyone want to sign my petition to bring back analog tv. Me and mr. c have had a barney just because he missed that prat, Clarkson. I told him he can watch it on bbci player. we love it each other really but since he's retired [ill health] he's been a bit of a plonker and argumentative [bit like a sulky teenager but without the spots] lol!
Got the same problem sky says it is because it is snowing
Yes, cupid, mines a music freak but I've got the tv tuned for freeview if sky goes down
Losing your Sky / Tv channels is real pain. I've Been there many times. I've Even hung out of a Window with a long wooden pole to clear Snow off the dish! (although not recommended).

There is something else that you can do to still get Sky TV when you lose your Sky Channels to a 'No Satellite' situation .

If you are not already aware, there is the 'Sky Go' service that you can access on your computer which will give you full access to all the Sky TV Channels, same as you do on your TV, including any Sky Sports / ESPN channels that are part of your main Sky package.

And if you have a TV has a PC / Computer video input you also connect the computer to TV and watch Sky Go on the TV screen.

Information on the Sky Go service is available here:
http://go.sky.com/vod/page/default/home.do

All you need is a Computer Web browser and your Sky ID and password to obtain access.

Give it a try.

It is nothing to do with losing analogue. Analogue and Digital freeview both come down the aerial and would be fine in snow. It is because the snow is covering the Sky dish so you are losing signal.

If you were watching digital TV via an aerial into a Freeview box it would probably be ok.

Does your TV not have a freeview box built in? Most modern TVs do.

Is your only way of getting TV via sky?

If so, and you still have an aerial, then see if your TV has a freeview box, or if not buy a cheap one (they can cost £20 or so upwards).

That way if you do lose Sky you can still watch digital freeview.
This has come on my screen last week and I went into the sky site for problem shooting.

Press and hold standby for 5 secs Power light will go on red. Wait 5 secs then press sky button on remote .Light will go Amber. Wait up to 4 mins then press sky button. Mine did it after 1 minute. Hope this helps.
