My kids have been nattering for Sky tv for years, the fabulous Sky + box has now finally persuaded me to get it.
The broadband seems good as I'm paying 15 a month currently for a similar speed/size as their 5 mid range. Has anyone had any problems with the Sky broadband? and how do I cancel my existing one?do I just stop paying or do I have to notify them? I've stuck with it because although it's a bit slow sometimes I don't have any problems generally with my connection and always think if it ain't broken don't fix it!
Not sure about the free calls either, do I need to tell BT or will they still just bill me for the rental and there won't be any calls on the bill. The sky lady said they do line rental too and it's much cheaper but moving from BT seems like a major upheaval after so long with them!! I'm interested to hear if anyone has this service from Sky and is it ok? Thanks

Broadband:
To switch broadband provider you need to notify your current ISP and get the MAC code, which Sky will need. You may have to give notice in writing - be sure to ask.
You can't just stop paying them.

Phone:
Sky should do everything for you. You will still be using the existing BT line, but Sky will pay the line rental for you and you will pay Sky for your calls.
Pointless to pay BT more for the same line.

Expect the whole thing to take a month from start to finish. You should not be without broadband or telephone service at any time,
If it the sky plus box that has persuaded you, you can get Freeview boxes that act the same way, should you not wish to change. OK, freeview only, no broadband, but then no hassles of paying each month or changing supplier.

Actually, just read your post again, and maybe BT Vision supplies a box like I described.

Thanks very much for the advice, decided to go for it so am just waiting for my broadband to be set up.
I didn't want just the box in the end postdog but I know someone who does so that's very interesting, thought only Sky did one.
