2 weeks ago my daughter gave birth at home before the midwives arrived, when the baby was weighed the midwife said she was 3550 gms and
converted it to 7lb 13oz, after 2 days she had lost quite a bit of weight, somy daughter checked a conversion chart and came up with 7lb 8oz, she got her husband and her father to check also and they came up with 7lb 8oz, today she looked at the conversion chart in the babies little red book and it says 3550gms is 7lb 13oz. Is there anyone out there who can definately say which is right. Thanks all

7 lbs 13 ozs is correct.

Baby often loses weight in the first week........she seems fine.
3550g is 7.8lb not 7lb 8 oz, 7.8lb is 7lb 12.8oz near enough so 7lb 13oz would be the given weight
I wonder if the converted reading of 3550g came out as 7.82lb which would be closer to 7lb 13oz than 7lb 8oz.

Yes we aren't really concerned with the weight loss, she has passed her birth weight now whichever weight that was, but would like to know just how much that was in lb's and ounces.
The confusion is dues to metric presentation of an imperial quantity.
