do you really want weight or size gina as weight varies a lot depending on factors like size of parent, any illnesses etc

i know at 34 weeks average is 5lb but my baby was estimated 6lbs
Question Author
wanted weight please
will see what i can find out :)
How would you know how much of the weight was baby and how much was amniotic fluid!
you dont slipnot, thats why they estimate based on size of bones etc
Hi gina, go to this site and click on the square at the top that corresponds with how many weeks you are at it will give you a rough guide as to how much baby weighs.

Remember, it is only a guide though.

slipnot my daughter has just had a scan and they told her exactly how heavy the baby was! thanks redcrx and psychick
Gina, when they estimate the weight through a scan there is still a 10% margin for error. My midwife said the best way to gauge it is by knowing the mother's height and shoe size, but they can still be out by a few pounds sometimes.

Without weighing the actual baby you can't tell exactly how much it weighs!
gina, is all ok with babys weight or have reason for concern?
Agree with Natalie. My daughter was told she was having a very very small baby - guess the rest!
it happens a lot slipnot but usually a growth scan is fairly good. They do measure the waters as well as bone lengths.

It can cause a lot of worry though, large or small and scare the hell out of many mums to be.
Question Author
yes it was for a growth scan and as you say they do measure the water, its amazing what they can do nowadays isnt!
its lovely, I saw mine sticking its tongue at 34 week scan.

are they keeping a close eye on things and keeping your daughter well informed?
Question Author
yes they are watching her, she was in a bad carcrash a few weeks ago and its been going on since then
I take it that baby is still growing though and placenta is ok?
i remember you saying now about the crash and the protein in her wee or something, has that settled down?
Question Author
well hopefully, she has to see specialist again next week, she has had blood show as well, midwife measure with a tape and said she small but scan said ok. so hopefully ok
fingers crossed for you, if scan said ok then thats more reliable than just measuring with tape externally.

Hope alls well next week.
