I need to go auto soon. My present car is a 2005 Fiat Panda diesel and I have been very pleased with it indeed for its comfort, economy, reliability and ease of entry. It performs admirably both on local and long distance touring trips. I am much tempted to change to a more recent auto model Panda. Does anyone have experience of these? Are there any suggestions of good alternatives?

If you have had good service with your present car Becky, go to your local Fiat dealer & see what they can offer you, but do your homework first.
Be aware of this issue with Fiats:

I know two Fiat owners (one of a Panda, the other of a Punto) that have suffered with this. It's cost them both hundreds of pounds. If you are going to get another Fiat, make sure it does not have this problem.

I'd look at a VW Golf or Polo or, in the current climate, maybe a car made in Britain such as a Nissan or Vauxhall.
Have bought new and run an automatic Fiat 500 since 09/10, done 25000 mls and NO problems whatsoever. 60mpg and £35 a year road tax. Love the car and would buy another tomorrow. Nice five speed auto box with option of manual selection. Stylish and modern motoring without being slaughtered financially.
