I have just made my own mint sauce to go with tonight's lamb chops it made me cast my mind back to yonks ago when Gilbert Harding the original grumpy old man long before Victor Mildrew, well he complained in a famous rstaurant that the mint sauce was not home made and it made front page of all the newspapers.anyone remember grumpy old Gilbert he was a panelist on tv shows of the time.

Yes, I remember him well, a polymath and I think a closet gay, as he would have had to be in those intolerant times. The Face to Face mentioned above became famous because he cried.

Oh I remember the Grumpy old Gilbert on "What's my Line?" with Richard Nixon,
Lady Isabel Barnet, David Nixon and Barbara Kelly and Eamon Andrews on the Chair. I loved his grouchiness!
