Hi guys having never read them...was wondering if someone can help sum up the relationship between these two books?

Is it something along the lines of....

Old Testament.
Moses was told the 10 commandments and to spread the message.

New testament.
Jesus was sent as no one beleived the first book and was sent to atone for everyones sins?

obviously that is very basic but is that why there is an old and new book?

sherm It is important to remember that whatever you read you are not reading the truth, for a number of reasons :
1. No one knows or knew the truth e.g We are told what God said 27 times
when he supposedly made the world. Which of course is impossible . T
cont. That was a man made invention as is most of the bible.
2. The content of the bible has been changed hundreds of times to fit in the belief or wishes of the writer.
3. In addition it has been translated and up dated hundreds of times and even if done honestly there is no such thing as a perfect translation.
4. Bibles are of different lengths because of what has been added or deleted at various times.
Is it something along the lines. The Old Testament preaches hate and vengeance, ‘eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’

That has all been replaced by the New Testament, which teaches love and forgiveness.”

So simply isn’t relevant to modern Christians, so it’s not necessary to read it anymore!

No,the Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures) is not dead, out-of-date, and replaced by the New Testament (Christian Greek Scriptures)
No,There are three components of the Testament that make it important. (1) Relevant history, (2) upbuilding poetry, and (3) faith-inspiring prophecy, all of immense value to true Christians.

Jesus said “Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.” And that includes not only the Christian Greek Scriptures but the Hebrew Scriptures as well.(Matthew 4:4)
The OT was God taking and building a nation for himself, and blessing them with his law, which, when transgressed, was atoned for by animal sacrifice.
The NT was God atoning for all trangressions by providing the sacrifice himself, a single atonement for all sin for all time.
A creature that demands compensation through bloody sacrifice – and that’s acceptable? There are times when I read what’s written here and feel myself trapped in some sort of surreal nightmare world. The musings of the human mind can be truly frightening!
Breaking OUR imperfect laws carries penalties, ie gaol.
Breaking Gods perfect laws carries a penalty also - death.
Gods mercy saves us from that.
Theland, I know that's what you think - but try to look at it logically. Why would such a powerful God require barbaric bloody sacrifice? No one in their right mind would demand that - or condone it.
Ah well, that is a majestic God - pity about John Wizard. Fond memories.
//Ah well, that is a majestic God //

No intention of thinking about it logically then?
