My poor Yogi has been diagnosed with arthritis and the vet has recommended some glucosamin and chondroitin supplements. For the first 6 weeks he has to take 4 tablets a day dropping to 2 a day after, should I give these 4 altogether or do 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. I don't want to ring and ask the vet as he'll think I'm a mad woman, I've bothered him enough in the past week. Any advice thankfully received.

Take them all together if you like or one at different times. How much did the vet charge you? You can get them quite cheap at online retailers. BTW theres no evidence that they do anything.

Didn't buy them from the vet, he just advised which ones to go for and i bought them online. Thank you for replying.
There is no real evidence that they work. On the human side at least. My husband had them prescribed for a couple of years and he recently received a letter from the Doctor to say that they were ceasing to prescribe Glucosamine because there was no real evidence that it is effective. I think this was really a cost-cutting exerise. MrAsk say he feels no different.
We used cod liver oil on an old dog with arthritis. As posters have commented, glucosamin and chondroitin had no proven effect when researched.
Try Denes Greanleaf, although my old dog was on Glucosamin and Chondroitin for several months till he died last week. It certainly seemed to ease his joints when he got up in the morning.
Oops forgot to answer - I would split them into twice a day to maintain their effect throughout the day.

Thanks Lankeela, I'll have a look at that Dene's stuff.
