Has anybody any idea of the cost for electricity for a football league, or premiership club for a full game at night during the winter months?

The single 500W halogen floodlight I have at the back of my house is very bright – but it only illuminates my back garden. It would not surprise me if a typical premiership ground was using 100 times that amount – around 50kW (or even double that figure).

At around 10p per kW hour, 50kW works out at around £5 per hour.
Don't know about floodlights etc but this site suggests that Man U. have 800kVA of stand-by generating on site to cover for power failures during matches. I expect most of that would be for floodlights.
