I saw one mother the other day and her baby was called 'Tee-Jay'! When you hear names like that you can be almost certain to know what the parents are going to be like. It has also been found in studies that those people with these pretentious names have less chance of finding employment but of course this wouldn't even have been considered in the circles that these people move in.

Re: Spike

I had a dog called Spike - I named him after Spike from Tom and Jerry. Personally I think it is silly name for a boy, but that may be because I will always associate the name with dogs; as far as dogs names are concerned Spike is right up there with Fido.

There is a boy in my daughter's class called Storm!
I know 2 girls named Storm.
Folk in Dundee considered Pocahontas McGurk to be uniquely named - seems she's not after all.
Recently a mother in a shop called out to her wee man called Rufus.
