I have got to close my Easy Access Savings Account is it ceasing to exist. I will be changing it to a Direct Saver account which will be managed on-line. Here comes the (silly) question: How do you pay money into an on-line account?
Yes Factor's correct - cheques etc but sometimes cash. I don't bank on-line or even go to the bank very often, so on-line banking of any kind is new to me. I'll ring NS&I tomorrow. Thanks all.
I work in a Post Office and can confirm that the NS and I Easy Access Savings account is closing. Many of my customers have closed their accounts and opened Post Office accounts, either the Reward Saver, or more popularly the Instant Saver. Both of these can still be used in Post Office branches, the Reward Saver for deposits only and the Instant Saver for both deposits and withdrawals. The only drawback is that you have to deposit a minimum of £500 to open either of these accounts.
Thanks for that info spudqueen. I didn't know that. For some reason I thought that NS&I was part of the Post Office!!! I'll definitely open one of those accounts. I like to keep my little savings account separate from my bank account, and the post office is MUCH handier for me:-)
