Our Council are boasting that they have frozen council tax. They have conveniently ignored the fact they have stopped the free garden waste collection. We have to sign up to £26 per year for alternate weeks collection.
They are providing us with new wheely bins as the bin collection has now changed from each week to alternate weeks. We have been given food caddies (2) one for inside and a larger one for outside decantering, this will be collected weekly.
We have always had free parking in the Forest, now they are introducing charges throughout except at the council offices where staff park for free.
Is it any wonder everyone is so demoralised here. Our MP is a waste of space.
When we had the outcry about selling off the forest he voted not to save it, he is so out of here next election. Sorry Rant over!!

Thanks ummmm - I'm going to do that as soon as I have had my breakfast. It will be my job for the day.
Our Council have done much the same as OP - the system's working pretty well now. Our green waste collection is now £40 p.a. but we have clubbed together with 3 other houses as you can put out 6 green bags in our fortnightly collection, so we only pay £10 per house (ssh). We have residents' parking permits (have done for years) for which we have to pay £35 per car if you want to park in your own road (no room for off-road parking).

Shredded paper - why not to be recycled? ours goes in our paper recycling bin and is always collected with the paper collection.
Your lucky.
My council tax is just over £1,500 a year and that is with sole occupier discount.

Don't know, boxtops, but that was the answer I got from the council - take it to the local tip. I might try to catch the recycling bloke when he goes past with his huge yellow collection vehicle. He might be a bit more knowledgeable than someone sat at a desk all day.
Stuff it in the paper bin and put other paper stuff on top of it....
