Although I have stated in the past that this race should be banned due to the number of horses that are killed, I am going to be a bit of a hypocrite by joining in with the event.

Pick a horse and post it's name and let's see who wins.

My choice is SUNNYHILLBOY. 16/1

/// A lot of dog meat today. ///

That is not "just a bit of fun", in fact it is not in the least a bit funny.
Not funny in the instant cases (and not accurate, in terms of commercial production of dogmeat, although it was traditional to feed horsemeat to foxhounds , and possibly still is a practice. The hunt kennels were grateful for the donation from the owners )

We won't ever totally stop fatalities in racing, whether over fences, hurdles or on the flat; we get fatalities on the gallops sometimes; and that a champion chaser, who had won the most valued prize of all, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, broke a rear leg when running riderless and following the field, rather points up the truth of that. But that we still have jumps which have a drop markedly greater than the take off is extraordinary and that we still permit a field of forty at all,let alone in a handicap, is also odd. Neither element is conducive to safety.
