What car do you drive?
Adrian Flux does some good deals on 'unusual' (classic, treasured, low miles etc) policies.
Have a word with a local broker, or ring Swintons.
most companies knock off a bit off for under 7000 miles
Most insurance companys ask what mileage you do and then hopefully take this into consideration when they give you the quote

To pc jonnyboy spelling police you got me i will come clean. There no chance i could have got away with that on this site .
I was kind of hoping someone had some experience going from high to low mileage and had found a very good insurer and not necessary one of the big companys.
Adrian Flux are good. I insured my old Bentley through them, at a ridiculously low sum. They required me to produce proper, strict, evidence at renewal that I had done less than the small mileage in the year, but they quoted down to the kind of mileage that you'd do in a weekly trip to the shops down the road.
Don't the usual firms that advertise adjust for very low mileages?

Im sure they do Fred but there must be an insurer that specialize in just low mileage .
Im trying to look at one right now on the net but having trouble viewing it ... called coverbox.co.uk.
Go on the comparison sites, they all ask about milage so you should be able to get a deal there.
Having a low annual mileage isn't the only thing that's taken into account when the insurance premium is calculated.

There are other things, such as how much of a claim are you prepared to pay yourself. Where is the car normally kept, a drive, on the street or in a locked garage? Also, have you had any motoring convictions in the last three years, up to five years with some companies.

But, you've been given good advice about going on to the comparison sites, or maybe a broker.

Best of luck in your search.
Ther are places that do 'on demand insurance' you have to policy but have to notify them in advance each time you make a trip. mainly for people who have collectable or classic cars that they only drive a few times a year.
With the main companies they will ask if you use the car to go to work 'commuting' as you will have to say you do , they are not going to give a very low quote.
As an example I was thinking of taking the car off the road for a few months and just getting 'Sorn' cover against theft or damage. It was £158 for a year, I decided against it and kept the car on the road , a years fully comp was £226 with 7000 miles but no commuting. Arranged through Swinton.
I have been with LV for a few years now. I have a 1.6 Renault Scenic. W reg, with a 4K annual mileage limit. Last year I paid £214.00. a couple of days ago I got a renewal notice for the next 12 months for £18818. How good's that?
