An egg shortage coming, so they are saying on the news this morning. The prices will go up of course. Can we manage without them ? How much do you pay for yours ?

I get my free range from a local farm shop 90p for 6. They are beautiful. Had one for breakfast this morning. I dont eat a lot, but eggs are in so many things, so we probably cant mange without them.

Are you in the dog-house then Crafty?
He looks 'well hard' now though.........
I buy six eggs about one a month, if that. I don't think it will make much difference to my budget.
six eggs once a month - not one a month. Although I don't think I eat one a month. Mr LL eats the other five!!
i went through 11 this weekend!
Horrible things eggs! If I have one it has to be bashed to death so it is solid and covered in tomato ketchup so I can't taste it. So I don't bother. Mr LL likes eggs, but I limit him for the sake of his health!
Thanks Fluffy.

I was thinking maybe the Mary Berry recipe cards had created it :-)
4 pages in half a day ?!? eggsemplary !

This would be to do with the EU battery cage ban ?

I guess an initial shortage may encourage egg prices generally to rise as non-battery egg producers find they can demand more and excuse it a 'supply & demand at work'. But in the medium term free range eggs should become more plentiful and therefore cheaper by the same 'rules'.
Aren't we all panicking and pontificating (word of the day folks!) over nowt? The price of EVERYTHING has shot up, food especially, the escalating price of eggs aint no different.
don;t think i'm panicking or pontificating

laughing at craftys dog, yes
Wait until fuel goes up (august is it ?) Then everything else will go up as well.

Impressive aint it? ;-)
When my daughter and her partner were living with us we got through at least 30eggs a week !
They would get hungry in the early hours of the morning and come down for poached eggs on toast, problem was they had up to 4 each at one sitting She actually admitted to eating 6 in one go once.
