What a wonderful person and devoted family.
I was thrilled today to see she had safely had a son - which in my opinion is nothing short of a miracle.
Poignant that it was today - although she was not involved in conflict she was prepared to give her life for her toddler son.Does your heart proud - I wont moan about my lot again.(I will though and I am ashamed)
I know its not a Q but wanted to show my admiration for courage in the face of adversity - all over the world.

If the same thing had happened on a kitchen sink council estate, it would have received perhaps 5% of the coverage.
I don't she had any choice in giving her life for her baby son, she was stabbed in a very quick and completely random incident....she responded to medical treatment extremely well, what would anyone else have done?
Buddy - I quite agree with your sentiments, and those of louadams.
Andy is (IMHO) slightly right in the sense that there is a degree of "luck" in which stories like this get coverage and which don't (missing persons is another good example). However, just because Abigail Witchells wasn't from a council estate doesn't mean she is any more, or any less worthy of positive thoughts from other people.
I think Buddy was absolutely right in saying that she risked her life for the toddler - reports said that she moved to protect him, as any mother would. Now, just because any mother would do the same, doesn't make it a less admirable act.
He husband must have gone through hell and back since this happened, and he has not deserted her. Some couples split up when one gets very ill, as the other can't cope with seeing them so weak. He has stood by her, and appears very devoted indeed, so I don't think he deserves a knocking.
I add to Buddy and Lou's sentiments - ladies I think you're both right to say nice things about this lady and her family. She's been through a terrifying experience and is unlikely ever to recover fully, but she's evidently a fighter, so good for her! Although she's unlikely to see this, like many (though apparently not all) others, I wish her and her family well for a happy and healthier future.
Kactus - of course I dont mind your posting.
She was out about 7 months ago in a quiet country lane with her toddler son in his buggy. She went to open a a gate and when she turned round a man was holding a knife at her sons throat. Her motherly instinct was to protect her son so when she went to protect her son the perpetrator plunged the knife into her neckShe was given the last rites. She was given realistically no chance of recovery but this remarkable woman along with the absolute support of her devoted family and the amazing medical treatment she received has now regained speech and some sensation in her limbs.
She was found to be pregnant at the time of the assault and was allowed home for the first time last week - however she went into labour 6 wks early yesterday and successfully delivered naturally a son.
The potential suspect committed suicide a week later in Scotland.No-one else is being sought for this heinous crime.
What a wonderful happy woman she is!
'what a will to live she has! I can understand why you think she a remarkable woman! I'm very glad to hear she didn't lose her baby, what a relief that must be to her that her new son is healthy. All the best to her and her family.
Thanks again buddy. I can understand why you wanted to post a thread dedicated to her.
