I wonder if any one can provide me with some guidence to theese questions.

Earlier today I got involved in an argument with an off duty officer.

It appears that I may have appeared aggressive (his words), and may have told some one else (bystander who was getting involved) to f*** off.

Now This is not normally my nature but the whole incident had me flustered with this chap flashing his badge and the bystander getting involved.

I was sober and in a public place.
On leaving the scene the the officer took a picture on his phone of me and my vehicle registration, and said that I will be hearing from him.

My questions are:
1. Is the an offence under the public order act section 4 or 5?
2. How long will I have to wait to find out if I will be hearing from him again.
3. What sort of punishment am I likley to receive? ( this is my 1st offence)

I am starting a new job and currently studying a degree so this could all be very damaging to me.

Thanks for your time.

Road Pique rather than Road Rage.
Within the police force a warrent card is commonly refered to as ' The Badge'
Really ?!?

And do they all call the Station their 'Office'?
Yes they do call the station 'the office' as that is where they do the paperwork an average of 2 hours paperwork for every arrest.
Strange....

My Dad has always referred to his place of work as the Station, or more often 'Nick'....and has never had badge just a warrant card!
sorry i could not resist

Think I would have been totally p****d off if he had taken a picture of me and my car. Are you really allowed to do this? Sounds like an off duty jobs worth to me.
as the officer did not ask you for any details eg, name/address, id assume he took the pictures to intimidate you,
Jack, I don't really get the point you are trying to make?

It doesn't seem a big deal to me that he called it a badge instead of a warrant card.
You haven't comitted and offence at all, he was just being a d1ck and taking your photo to intimidate you because you weren't suitably impressed by the fact he was police. Stuff him, forget him- not worth anymore of your thoughts.
Jack, just thought you might be interested. I'm currently reading a book (ficitonal) about a some murders in Manchester. (it's called Vigilante should that be of any interest). Anyway, the sentance I just read stuck out to me, "the sight of their respective police bages sent people scurrying quick enough".
Most police officers are issued with badges (shiny) along with a warrant card.
It's a shame you didn't get his name or number so you can report him. A lot of policemen have delusions of grandeur.
