So I sign up. Follow a few random 'celebs'. Now what? How do I know if they've replied? How do I make it interesting? Can it be interesting? Just not getting it at the moment :-( BTW I love FB cos I can keep in touch with family and friends and I dip in and out of AB so I'm not a (complete) luddite - honest!!

No. It's a bit different to anything else and the celebs don't reply. I get an e-mail saying that someone is following me. Within reason, you can say almost anything on Twitter - anything on your mind, anything that is Trending (Anything that has the #symbol).

If you follow certain things, you can post a question (I follow the British Eurosport Moto GP commentators) and they will ask the relevant questions on air and give you an answer. There are a few AB members who have Twitter too (No names though).

So it's more about receiving information and sharing it (for us mortals then)? Thanks

should have said "than sharing"
A bit of both really.

You sometimes get news a lot faster through Twitter than the mainstream news outlets (You might not like Football, but the Joey Barton saga has been fascinating).
How do I make it interesting? Can it be interesting?

You can't and no.
I think it's basically for celebs, "A" list to "Z" list to get off on. If your interested in when so and so went to the shops, took a dump etc etc than it seems to be the place to be. If it were me I would substitute the i for an a in the title.
Twitter consists mainly of people with nothing to say, saying it in public.
As opposed to FB which is mainly people with nothing to say, shouting it in public.
t'other way round, surely?
LOL Rojash.

Twitter is interesting for me as I read a fair few blogs. Most of the writers have Twitter accounts and are happy to field questions, follow up and supply extra details etc.

It's not something you spend time on though, it's something you dip in and out in passing moments of unavoidable boredom (While in a queue for example).

So I really am getting the most out of it then!! Thanks folks, you've been great and very helpful - as always xxx
I'm in much the same situation as nfn, having just signed up to Twitter. It's all so complicated, even to find my own Home Page - if that's what it's called. At one point I clicked to see my Settings and found a 'Browse' link, so I clicked to Browse and was alarmed to find it gave me access to information on my own computer. There was a gold security padlock symbol at the top of the screen which I take it meant it was secure, but I didn't like it and don't know why that Browse option was there. Perhaps it was something to do with my website. I'm not at all sure that I shall stay with Twitter.
Clarification. Settings > Profile.
I'm not interested in celebs' ramblings, I won't join.
