rowan, your getting married ? congratulations.
I sew tinkerbell and I love it! I hadn't done any sewing since my early 20s, but got a machine and started making simple dog collars for our hounds. I was hooked very quickly and the collars have now become far more elaborate and I am soon going to have a second machine that will do thicker materials and leather, a lovely old classic Singer! The one I use most is a Toyota and so incredibly easy to use, a pure pleasure. I got it second hand from a friend. I'm not really into patchwork so much, but will be doing curtains etc and possibly some tops for myself and an Indian friend of mine who is bringing me back some lovely materials and trims from India. Give it a go, it is great fun!
Could one of you ladies that know what you're talking about have a look at this machine from John Lewis, it's only £89. Will it be ok for an amateur like me.

Thanks

Looks like a good starter machine rocky, wouldn't mind it myself. I've made my own clothes for many a year as I enjoyed doing it but now don't have a machine and as people have said, buying clothes is much cheaper nowadays.
Got basic one in Poundstretcher for £29

No zigzag or light, is it electric ? For extra £10 this is superior with all features.
