Where does your avatar or name come from?

(Without breaching the AB confidentiality rules, of course)

I'll "come out" first - I enjoyed surfing, and wanted the Latin for Surfer.

Couldn't find it, so settled for Latin for Hunter, hunting round the internet.

My current avatar is the lost letter Yogh, one of the letters we lost when printing came in -

Was by way of an explanation to JD, who I thought I'd offended last night.
I realise that, but why that link - and why the reference to me? I only posted a few words on that thread.
Ok, struggling to find *tone* here - for example I took your reply to me of last night as light hearted.
Because that link looked like an egregiously preaching response to an innocent question, hence my original point.
Elsewhere on R&S, when I posted people were engaged in some fairly robust exchanges, but I accept a personal reference may not have been received in that context.
Humbersloop, Even though I felt your initial reference to me was intended to be derisory, which it now appears it was, my reply was light-hearted. Why you would consider my use of three words 'Chakka is right' to be an egregiously preaching response is a complete mystery to me. Perhaps the religious on that thread who were in agreement were also giving an egregiously preaching response? No? Strange that you make a point of especially selecting an atheist for ridicule, but when JD, whom you clearly assumed would join you in your bit of fun, unexpectedly declared himself agnostic, you hastily constructed an apology. Not to worry. I'm used to dealing with irrationality on AB - but what a shame there's always one who brings unpleasantness to the most innocent threads. Happy New Year to you.
Happy New Year naomi24 !
btw sorry to shatter your illusion ( ref the RDN avatar ) :)
And to you too Marty - even if you're not Robert De Niro! :ox
Naomi24, at the risk of making this worse, I do think there's a misunderstanding here.
Three things. My remark about egregious preaching was about Elderman's reply on that thread, not yours. For what it's worth, I share your atheism, I certainly was not being derisory And my apology wasn't hastily constructed, it was genuine.
Good health and peace for 2012.
Humbersloop, I'm always ready to listen and you will never make things worse with me by making the effort to explain any misunderstanding, so thank you for that. My best wishes to you for 2012. :o)
Well I do hope that's cleared up -I guess irony can be a dangerous thing.

I was really taken aback by your reaction, though looking around there do seem to be some ABers who are, ahem, less than respectful of others. It never ceases to amaze me that people say things on t'interweb that they wouldn't in realtime. Or get thumped or ASBO'd if they did.

Anyway, good luck over on R&S, and to you and yours too. x
Humbersloop, not to worry. Over and done with. :o)

x
Good.

Looking back, hope that clarifies the tramp and kipper reference, which is a local (N Lincs) expression for desperate opportunism. Which, she added hastily, was also not directed at you.

Now I really will get me coat...

naomi & humbersloop - I'm glad that's all over - thought it would be murder or getting a room...

Still waiting for Sara3 's story - please?
No chance of the latter - she's a she, so not my style at all. ;o)
Thanks for watching out Venator. And no chance of the former either - I'm sticking to the crosswords thread in future!
Health and peace in 2012 x
Question Author
Naomi - perhaps that makes Sara3's story even more interesting?
