A company which I do a lot of sub-contracting to has warned me that they will soon start to insist on electronic invoices . Is there a simple way to do this ? Could I just tabulate an e-mail ? Maybe I'll have to download some office software , if so whats the best i.e simplest ? Many thanks in advance Marty PS I have Windows 7 and use firefox ;)

BBM - Don't use Paypal invoicing - they take a fee of about 3 percent!

You certainly don't need all the hassle of full accounting software, either!

To summarise, all you need is Open Office, which you can download here -

http://www.openoffice.org/

There is help on that site. Don't get it from other sites which try to charge you - it's free!

As ChuckFickens and I suggested, you should send your invoices as .pdf files -
if you send a word or spreadsheet document, your customer can change it!

A .pdf document looks just how you wrote it. You can make one by choosing "print to pdf or save as pdf in most programs - come back on AB if this isn't easy.

Good invoicing!

Nice one venator you guys are the bees knees ! By the way I could have written and posted about 50 invoices in this time ! ... the modern age what ! :)
Venator ... That might be ideal for you ..sending pdf invoices .. They CAN be changed .. just like doc, xls, etc. That is NOT the real world.
I have sent loads of attached word invoices .. I have friends in succesful businesses and they too use a template and send in Word. It is not like you don't keep the original. You can easily lock a word doc against changes by author, and these could be identified in court if needs be.
I write a simple monthly invoice .. or a detailed one in a few minutes, and send it in a few minutes.
