The squatters would sue them for wrongful arrest. There could be *no* real expectation that every person arrested had committed the crime of B&E...
A guy that we work for sometimes had some squatters in one of his houses. He got a couple of pikeys he knew to go round and 'have a quiet word'. They listened.

Whats the area North of Iron Bridge?
jackthehat, you're probably right.
It seems bad law if it doesn't protect people and forces them to go outside the same law and use thugs to regain their property
Shropshire?
OH was telling me about some squatters in a friend of ours Dads house. Our friend, the son, who is a complete header, moved in. They were gone within a week...
why isn't the law on the side of the householder. If someone gets into your property and claims squatters rights, then takes an age to get them out, surely that is wrong. The problem lies with the law. Sqatters are no different to any other form of low life that make life miserable for law abiding people. The problem is that legislation can deal with most. reading through that it doesn't say when.
The last paragraph says it all. "Considering".

Sledge mammer through a window, closely followed by Max. He only tolerates Trish and myself in his house because we pander to his every whim, I don't know what he'd have to say to a bunch strangers moving in without his permission but he wouldn't be happy

Near the mouth of the River Esk, where the A74 crosses on its way to Gretna, is the site of a significant cast iron bridge by Thomas Telford. It was replaced in 1916 by a ferro-concrete bridge, possibly by L. G. Mouchel, but in any case also now gone.
I think. Would get one of my friends to break in and leave, then Iwoud squat in m own house.
