... a christmas tree by the 1st weekend of december? Say the 3rd or 4th? I have folk coming to stay with me from Cardiff and want to make it all christmassy for them. I don't normally get my tree until 1 or 2 weeks before.

n.b. This refers to a real living tree - none of that artificial rubbish.

The prices at Notcutts last year were disgraceful. But as the BF always buys mine, I suppose that doesn't matter too much.
you're having the BF's folks for xmas???

You probably will be able to but won't it be awfully dry and falling to bits by CHristmas; or are you getting one with a root ball?
Question Author
Good Lord no - that would be too scary. Just his niece, her husband and the baby. If I invited his sister, I'd have to have a JCB come in, then professional domestic cleaners round, or book up a fancy hotel room.

Sophie - I didn't mean that a root ball would be too scary. Posts interrupted !!

We used to go to a place called Marholm near Peterborough who grew their own trees, but they didn't have any last year. I suppose if I'm putting one up on the 3rd, I do need the roots still on don't I?
On short, yes, Salla or it will be fit for tinder on the 25th......

Did a bit of sh@gging in my youth in Marholm Woods.

Also did a bit in Helpston nr Peterborough, but apparently it is now a "Dogging site"............pity i missed out.
I always used have a real tree up by 1st or 2nd Dec, never had any problems getting them. Looked after properly they will last right into New Year.
Yes, saw some real ones in Homebase this week.

I have to say that the best **@* of my life was in the front seat (passenger) of a car. Anton's Gowt Lock.

It too is now a dogging site.

Oh how life spirals downwards. Honesty, people of today. No class.
I'd be sick of the sight of a Christmas tree if we put ours up that early but yep get one with roots still on and you'll be all set I should think!

I have a big one. (Lounge). Like I said, I don't usually get it up until a week before Christmas, but this is a treat for the young 'uns. I'm having a family 'do', and there will be my 15 week old Scarlett Sunshine, a 16 month old and a 2 year old, so want lots of sparkly spangly things.
I wish I could get mine up a week before Christmas, but Mrs McM thinks Xmas Eve is soon enough. I've got a spare fairy for the top if you want it salla.
