religious zealots...why do they feel the need to try to convert?

if they are so convinced they are right, so smug that theyve got life sussed and are totally happy with that...why waste so much time an energy trying to convince other?

especially when they are met with such opposition...

why not just shrug, say whatver and move on with their lives...why are they so obsessed with gathering support?

I try mightily to convert but I avoid 'zealotry'.

I do it because Jesus commanded the spread of the Gospel, because my life has been made wonderful by Jesus, and because -- at the very least -- the errors and misstatements of people like you offend my love of Truth.

If one applied your characterization to Jesus Himself one would see how silly it is.
When you get over your zealotry (as in using terms like 'smug', 'sussed' and 'obsessed') we can talk. but not til you quit being an extremist.
