A neighbour has recently installed a floodlight on his garage. This switches on at dusk and turns off at dawn. The light is a bright orange/pink colour often used in street lighting or garage forecourts etc. It shines into my front rooms and also through the glass front door. He knows that is annoys me as I've asked him to divert the light from shining into my property but he refuses to do anything. What can I do about it?

I don't know where you live but in the UK that's classed as light pollution and can be dealt with in the same way as noise pollution by your local council.
Put your request (politely!) in writing and post it to him Recorded Delivery. I know that sounds weird, but you need proof that he has received your letter. in your letter, advise him he has seven days to adjust the light appropriately, or you will be forced to take legal action, advising that you are sure this will not be necessary - you want to try and avoid a war of attrition with your neighbour. If that brings no response, have a word with your local Council and ask for advice in proceeding - you might want to consult a solicitor who will give adive for a minimum fee. I know all this sounds drastic, but it's muech eaiser, and more effective, than doorstep slanging matches. Goo luck.
Roger and I posted simultaneously, but we agree on the way forward.
Can't find anything about it in law. Light Trespass seems to be the two words cropping up, but parliament are still looking into it. http://www.redbridge.gov.uk/environment/lighpollution.cfm
There are also mediation services available for neighbour disputes - your local CAB or council will have details.
Okay you can do one thing that suggest him to put low watt light or CFL light in his garage and for security reason use CCTV to record all the stir in his premises. Talk him politely with him. He will definitely understand your problem.
