radiators wont get hot

i have an ideal combi boiler, the boiler fires up and goes off after about 1 min, my upstairs radiators get warmish but nothing downstairs, i have been told this may be the diverter valve.

any suggestions anyone

it could be the diverter valve but could just as likely be a faulty pump. if its the diverter valve you normally get no hot water as the diverter valve normally diverts between hot water and radiators rather than between upstairs and downstairs. the radiators being warmer upstairs could be down to heat naturally rising upwards.

 if the pump is playing up you can usually hear a rumbling noise from the boiler.

Thanks for your reply, the pump has been replaced and its still the same, all raidiators have been flused and still the same, the temp goes to around 60 this takes about a minute, then it turns off, and a few minutes later the process starts again, would changing the diverter valve help.

just had this problem diverter and sensor checked out ok turned out it was the thermister �50 to have repaired

my old man whos a heating engineer says it could be the thermister and that 50 quid is a good price ( thermister costs a tenner, rest is labour )

Thanks again for your help, whats a thermister, i have looked on the parts list its an Ideal Boxer C24 boiler, and there is nothing listed as a thermister.

its a sensor that is temperature dependant. most boilers have a technical helpline that you can ring for advice?
