Somewhile back 2/3 years I needed a watch battery for my Seiko watch.
I went into Hill Samuel and it was £6.20 plus £4 fitting . I told them to stuff it or words to that effect. I then went next door to Jessop and got two for £2.
I went back into HS and told them I would never shop in any of their stores again.
Since then I have bought them from Jessops or on line. They have gone up but they are still available for £1.99. but it illustrates the way some firms rip us off. I hate to think what HS would charge today.

Ron, Ed's not unhappy about the thread, it's just in the wrong category.
just a minute, the Ed bought it second hand....

and what do you pay for a service charge on a Ta Heuer.

(There is such a thing as being given a premium watch - for our dedicated socialists by the way).
My watch is a Gucci and I haven't had to replace the battery for over 8 years. Tells you something.
Prudie......it tells me that you paid well over the odds for a timepiece which has a quality battery!
I'm surprised you say that - I'm sure I've seen you say looks matter :-)
boxtops.... IMO.. The Ed was wrong to think that this subject matter is not in the right section. A lot of what has been said is News to me and I am sure it is to a number of others who are possibly just watching and biding their time on saying anything.;-)
