Can low blood pressure make me very tired?

I saw the doctor yesterday for a medication review, and he took my blood pressure and said that it was quite low (98/70) which is ok, bearing in mind that I'm a plump diabetic, I've been getting swollen legs for the last couple of weeks, and he gave me some Furosemide to take, but warned me that the pills may lower the blood pressure still further. I asked him what to do if they did, and he said stop taking the Furosemide - wouldn't it be better to stop taking one of the blood pressure pills, as I take 2 different types of them?. I expect that anyone replying to this will say that I should re-visit the doctor which would be sensible advice, but I want other peoples' opinions. Also would anyone know if low blood pressure can make you really tired - I've hardly been able to stay awake for the last few afternoons/evening. Thanks.

Let's sum up .
You are a plump woman (age not given) who is is a diabetic (type not given and treatment not given) hypertensive ( drug regime not given) who is feeling tired and has swollen ankles and has been given Frusemide.......and wants to know if low BP can make you very tired?

Is that correct?

I need to know your age, the BP tablets that you are taking, the diabetic management and if your blood sugars are within normal limits.
How long you have had swollen feet and if you get dizzy on standing.

What we need to try and find out, is why you are tired and why your ankles are swelling wnich may have nothing to do with that one, solitary BP reading which in itself is of limited value.

Does low BP make you fell tired?....it might......depending upon the cause.
What should you do if the BP falls lower?....how would you know?

I look forward to your reply.

OK, I'm type 2 diabetic on insulin twice a day. My medications are as follows:
1 x Propranolol 40 mg twice a day
1 x Simvastatin 25mg once a day
2 x Amiltriptyline 25mg at night
1 x Ramipril 10mg once a day
1 x Indapamide 2.5mg once a day
2 x Humulin M3 injections one in morning and evening
Also tramadol 50mg, up to 6 x day due to back trouble.

The diabetic management is getting better, I see a diabetic nurse/advisor at local hospital and she has told me to take 24ml insulin in the a.m and 22ml at night, and my blood sugars have come down quite a bit, they have been between 10 - 13 for the last few days. I have had my blood pressure done at the doctors the last couple of times, and the readings have been 108/76 and yesterday 95/70 ( if I remember correctly). I've been feeling really tired the last week or so, and falling asleep in the afternoons/early evening, which is why I wondered if low blood pressure has anything to do with tiredness. I'm seeing both the diabetic nurse and renal clinic next week so can ask them, but I wondered about this, hence my posting. Thanks for any help.
isalmum....excellent post.

Your diabetes....you didn't say that your blood sugars were before or after food, but yes, they are a bit high.
You BP...seems to be under control.

In answer to your questions:

In my opinion your BP has nothing to do with your tiredness.

No, maintain the dose of BP pills and the Frusemide as it is unlikely that it will lower you BP further.

Ask your DR if he will do blood tests to check your thyroid status.

Your tiredness is probably due to your raised blood sugars.
Thanks Sqad - I've just had my blood tested, but am not sure if a thyroid was requested or not. Anyway, I have Renal Clinic and Diabetes nurse next week, so can hopefully find out more then. Thank you for your help.
No problem.....islasmum or blackcat 77....;-)
Good answer sqad but dont forget tramodol can make one tired.
razza....good point........indeed it can.
