After a serious illness our cat is underweight.he prefers to eat tuna in brine or catfood(tuna based)will eat thinly sliced chicken or turkey,small amounts.Had a short lived fad for cooked prawns.Advice please on food to increase bodyweight.

Sounds like your cat is still unwell. You do not say what was wrong before.

Has your cat got a thyroid problem? You need talk to a vet urgently.

There is a recovery diet available in Canada and the USA called Hill's Prescription Diet a/d. You could also try a kitten food as they are high calorie. It is much better if you can feed your cat cat food as opposed to human food. Cat diets are formulated to be balanced for what your cat needs. Human food is ok as a treat or for training and that is about it.
If just bulking him up is the issue, try giving him a big selection of whatever you have at home. Try warming the tinned cat food up so that is smells (some cats like that more) I would talk to your vet or verterinary nurse about what diet they would recommend for your cat.

i think that you should feed him chicken and rice,as this puts the weight on but is still gentle on his little belly
