Sorry folks who go for film & Tv. I still fall asleep during programmes. I always thought the older you get the less sleep you need.
I am getting older and sleeping more. Is this usual. Or is it due to the glass or two of wine after dinner?

Hi dilligaf,is your name from...does it look like i give a f***?-1st letter from each word.I used to sleep for england but im not as bad now im older {49} yipes, times a marchin on ,but i dont feel my age thank god!
Strange you should mention this. I have always been an early bird (bloke !) getting up with the lark and like you, falling asleep during the TV programmes sometimes as early as 8pm. But i always get up at 4.45am (even during days off and weekend) so that's not a problem for me.

But for the last 10 months, i've been struggling to get out of bed until 8am at weekends...something that i've never done in all of my 39 years. I'm finding it a struggle to get through the day without having a nap in the afternoon too.
I've given up smoking 18 months ago and put on around 4 stone so i don't know if carrying the extra weight is making me tired.
i need a hobby !!!
Andy I think needing to sleep a lot more than usual can be a sign of depression - from experience - if it's happened suddenly maybe that is the cause? Finding a hobby or something to get your teeth into would definitely help, with most causes - you don't catch yourself falling asleep if you're hard at work and really enjoying somthing do you?
\i wish I could sleep, only ever have 2 hours and it's as if I been asleep for hours

Like andyjevs I gave up smoking about ten years ago and put on weight. Perhaps thats the answer. I ftook up a hobby after, drinking red wine. Probably does'nt help.
Yes patriciather, spot on with dilligaf. From the Kevin B****y Wilson song. There is an excellent DVD from one of his shows if you can get hold of one its worth buying. I bought one last christmas at Woolies.

I flook up a hobby. How sad. Thats the problem with wine.
Off for a nap now.
yeh i have the same problem only have to watch tv and i start nodding off, maybe its because you are so relaxed watching tv and then just nod off.

We are all so sad. Why do tv programmes go on after 9 o'clock at night. It appears replies from most subscribers to this site , including myself confess to being asleep. Perhaps this is why video recorders became so popular. Spend more time watching videos than tv. Misses then asks what happened at the end of so and so. If you are up early enough in the morning and watch the recording you can give her an answer. Is that one upmanship? Gives you a good feeling though!
It's the booze and the awful quality of todays programmes, mate. Bring back the Potter's wheel.
