two job interviews (decisions)

job interview number one was today as a rehab support worker
but its unsociable hours and only part time... but i would gain lots of job satisfaction out of it
job interview number two tomorow.. a housekeeper for a M.O.D dept, mundane , but better hours and more money
if i were lucky enough to be offered both and i know its a big IF
i wouldnt know which one to go for based on the reasons i had been given
What would you choose?

Do you want to stay in the care sector? If yes then I'd go for Job no 1 as it gives you experience.

Go for the MOD one, if the job survives the cut backs next month, you will be more secure if there is such a thing these days plus pension, holidays.

i think i will see how i feel after tomorows interview and of course the outcome of their decision and see what i feel after that but thanks peeps x

although its in the mod moonraker i should of said its an outside contractor company so pensions ect will not be the same as workers directly employed by the mod

If money was no object I would say the rehab one sounds interesting but the housekeeper one might not be too mundane if you work with some nice people who can keep you company.
Working unsocial hours can take some getting used to if you haven`t done that before (correction - you don`t get used to working unsocial hours and depends if you have kids as well)

have you worked in the first industry before?
i know some people who have gone into such roles believing they gain job satisfaction from it...but actualy have hated it an become miserable...due to abuse, hard work but often with no gratitude etc...
i suppose it woudl be immensley satisfying to watch someone get back on their feet and feel you have had a hand in it...but those success stories are not in the majority unfortunately, and most of the time you will probably feel frustration

this is of course just how i think i might feel - i dont actually know...but im basing it on my work with unruly kids... not the same but some similarities i imagine

I should think you have to take a cold hard look at these jobs first by considering what your commitments are. Can you afford to work only part-time? In any case in my experience the care industry has little regard for peoples' lives outside work. On the other hand my experience tells me that contracted out work from government departments is also under constant pressure usually to cut costs.
Once you've considered these hard issues I think you need to carefully consider the nature of these two very different jobs. Rehab support must be wonderful when it goes right but look at the odds of a relapse. You won't be bored though!
Housekeeping is similarly satisfying if it is appreciated. If you are treated like a drudge your self esteem will surely plummet. On the other hand if you like a secure routine and have interests outside work to get away to then the housekeeping may be for you.
Either way I wish you the best of luck and like the buses, if you miss them both there'll be another along in a bit.

i have another interview lined up for mon now in a hotel as a housekeeper will keep you all posted

Id pick the job with the ministry of defence as like you said its more money and better hours, also it would look great on your cv.
