Is it not time that these archaic practices, (that are foreign to our Christian country), are banned?

And if certain religious groups cannot eat meat apart from halal, then it should be them that should refrain from eating ours, rather than us having to.eat theirs.

/// Sharia law states that the abattoir involved in the process must be under the ‘close and constant supervision’ of an Islamic religious organisation.///

/// Under these rules, the cut must be made to the right side of the neck by cutting the two carotids, the two jugulars, the windpipe and the gullet, but without breaking the spinal cord.///

/// The carcass must empty of blood and a specific time should be allowed until the animal ceases to move before the next stage of the production process – de-skinning and removing the internal organs – may begin ///

Lesbians are wrong too

Happy now?
I was never unhappy JL ;-) nothing like a bit of healthy debate between people with opposing beliefs eh.

There are many people who love their dogs, so are you suggesting that there should be a civil ceremony to cater for these also?

/// Why not ? it wouldnt do any harm.///

Ah! so you are also in favour of bestiality?

Why don't you stop digging, you are making yourself to look silly.
tsk, fancy making yourself look silly on an AOG thread
/// Why don't you stop digging ///
You mean answering back to the dictator?
Sorry GIT but if you are going to continually post your contentious rantings, take chunks out of peoples opposing opinions and re-present them in your little forward-slash sandiches than you have to be prepared for the backlash.
YOU are the one who looks silly not me.
For your information I am not "in favour" of anyone's sexual preference.
anne, how does it taste differnt to "normal" meat nothing is done with the meat its just killed in a different way
as i said, superiour quality, hasnt been sitting wrapped in cellophane for days. always fresh. less fatty. well butchered, no gristle. imo.
I agree about the concerns about the method of killing, both Halal and Kosher, no-one seems to know if the animals suffer any pain or not, and being Jewish, i'm not going to get into that one, but for me, the real issue here is the gradual Islamisation of this country, we just don't have the leaders who have the balls to speak up for us.

The main faith of this country in the not too distant future will be Islam, and this Halal business is just another step towards it.
Slaughtering Islamic way hurts animal. Well, only an animal can really tell. Perhaps hitting the animal with a bolt hurts him more. How do you know? Being a Muslim I believe animal suffer the least pain because of sudden drop in blood flow to brain. Even according to that article in the paper talks about 4 to 5 second pain.

Now towards the people who call themselves vegetarian. The only reason I can think of for being veggie is that people do not like killing a life. I bet they take antibiotic when they have infection and kill virus, they also brush their teeth and kill bacteria too. Or is it just for an animal say big enough to be seen with naked eye. Scientist believe that even plants feel pain. What would you do about that then?

Lonnie – I know what your worry is about the spread of Islam. But perhaps being Jew you had though about that why Judaism became a race as you can only be born and not convert to it.
And yes few people talked about meat being better quality and that is due to all the blood draining out. For that reason meat stays fresh longer.
I feel uncomfortable about eating meat where the animal has had it`s throat slit without being stunned first. I have no issue about people from other religions eating halal meat, I eat it myself when In the Middle East because I have no choice if I want to eat meat. However, in this country I should be entitled to have a choice and be informed about what I am eating.
Keyplus, you are wrong about only being born into Judaism. My friend became a Jew, I know several converts to both Judaism and Islam.
If the country is becoming apparently more "Islamified" then perhaps it's not only the immigrant population apparently bringing it in (and by a long way not all of them are Muslim, some are Sikhs or Buddhists or Quakers or Christian or even nothing at all) - perhaps it's filling a void in those of the population who have not been affiliated to any religion.

keyplus90, I can agree with what you say about Vegetarianism, of course, there are different reasons for someone not wanting to eat meat, but moral grounds do not stand up at all. Everything we eat, Animal or Vegetable, has to be alive, or has been alive.

As far as converts are concerned, there is no bar at all to converting to Judaism, just different levels of hardship, so generally, its only the most dedicated that make it.
anne, so no different to a normal butchers then, i mean a butchers shop not a supermarket
