I know that some sparkling mineral waters are inadvisable, and that tap water (esp city ones) contain a lot of toxins which I would like to avoid. Could someone reccomend suitable mineral water please?

You might find sex is better than mineral water if you want to have a baby :D
or alcohol ... lots of it ... work for us ......... not sure what that says about our relationship though lol
millions of women every year have babies, most dont have access to bottled water and yet conceive and carry a baby with no bother.

I think youre worrying about nothing tbh and may as well just drink whichever you want to. I have never seen any warnings about bottled water for pregnant women
Do you mean "works for us" as in you and bobjugs, Captain?

Awwww, sweet :)
lol....

They are all as good/bad as each other.

Why not just drink cool boiled water...
get a water filter if your that worried will purify your tap water
shhh ... just don't mention it to NoM ...
advice on bottled and filtered water is all regarding the children themselves. Not the woman.

haha, I guess I was relying on a French person giving some advice as they seem very clued up on these things. I've been told that Spa Reine, Hepar and Contex are recommended, but I havent had a chance to actually speak with someone in the know about which is which
find a french parenting forum, though I know of french mothers who have also not worried about what type of water they drink.

Itll be a marketing ploy by some bottled water company or supplier.
I seem to remember reading that in many cases tap water has fewer toxins than supposedly pure bottled spring water. As others have said...for ages, mothers have been carrying babies and drinking whatever water is available with no ill effect to either them or their babies.

thanks, i was after mineral water not spring water.

I've since been informed that Hepar - with high magnesium is particularly good when you're pregnant. French parenting forum served me well :-)

To your good health!
The stuff with alcohol in it worked for us!!
Good grief. I wonder how those unfortunates living in third world countries ever manage to have babies.
Stop worrying about unnecessary things and start relaxing is the very best thing you could do.
so are you gonna brush your teeth and boil your veg in mineral water?
In answer to your question, you get your RDA of minerals from the foods you eat, so regarding hydration, a naturally low mineral content water is ideal - particularly one which is low in nitrates (chemical fertilisers). Aquapax (sealed airtight inside paper cartons) is suitable - so are others in glass or plastic bottles providing they've been stored correctly. NB. declaration of interest as Aquapax is my 'baby'.
