Condensing Boilers

Should have asked a question methinks....I am toying with changing my boiler,any recommendations as to the most reliable at the moment?

I've had a Bosch boiler since 2005, and I've had no problems with it. Regular servicing by British Gas probably has something to do with it!

go for the one with the longest guarantee, mine has 5 years..

Worcester-Bosch.
Servicing by ANY competent gas engineer has something to do with it - using BG generally gets you the same but at higher price.

We've had a Worcester Greenstar for the last five years and we are pleased with it - very quiet in operation, very quick to deliver the hot water to our two bathrooms and kitchen. I had it installed by a local plumbing company and they maintain it annually - so far, so good.

We've had a Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler for three years now. It's been absolutely reliable. Before this we had a Vaillant condensing boiler which went wrong incessantly, almost from the beginning. After seven years, we cut our losses and dumped it for the Worcester Bosch. Right decision in the end!

My neighbour installs boilers - he reckons the best bet at the moment is the Ideal Logic range - a 5 year parts and labour warranty.

I don't have any experience other than knowing 3 years ago they were not great. I'd want more evidence over a longer period of time on something that I expect to be there in 8 years time. Installers don't have to fork out when they go wrong.

My old boiler is a Glow worm which (up 'til now) has given good service, I have spoken to one installer who is trying to steer me towards the Vokera range, but I wondered if the Glow worm condensing boilers are as reliable as my old one was.

I fitted a Baxi bBrmuda which apart from a few minor niggles worked fairly reliably for over ten years. Unfortunately anything which has a very long history of reliability won't be available anymore as it will have been replaced by numerous later models.(One of lifes great paradoxes).

Had a Biasi installed about 3 years ago, the timer broke down after about 18 months, and now the central heating doesn't work and can't get it fixed cos' no one seems to know what is wrong with it. Grrrrrr.

Definitely Worcs Bosch. Had no trouble since installed nearly 5 years ago

Worcester Bosch are pretty good, and the Greenstar series are very efficient

But, whichever boiler you put in, get them to install a magnaclean. Then the junk in your c/h system ends in there (which is removable/cleanable) rather than in the heat exchanged coil which is narrow and blocks relatively easily - it's also rather expensive!
