The French National Assembly, have voted in favour of the ban on the Burka by 335 votes to one.

If this bill is finally scrapped by the European Court of Human Rights, and knowing that the French don't take things lying down, could we see someone at last challenging the European Court of Human Rights?

If the burkha is made illegal, without the threat of prison, how do you enforce it?
say 'errr sorry, your'e not flying wearing that'
;sorry can you speak up a bit,...it could be a bloke underneath the burka, it has been known?
also a woman S.B could easily strap explosives round her waist and wonder into a large shopping centre???
We're back to the "burka" again when you mean niqab, as well - the long face veil, not just the burka all-in-one......
bobbi, fat women in maternity clothes can just as easily pad out with bombs if they wanted to, face coverings or not. You don't need to wear Arab clothing to be a bomber.
I like the words suggested on the previous page, that sounds eminently sensible to me, will cover Guy Fawkes masks as well, and not a word about religious or cultural garb in the statement. I like it.
agreed boxy but the Burka has been used for wanted terrorists <men> to evade arrest
I know bobbs, that's what makes that aspect sad - men in women's clothing, a few only, casts new aspersions on the whole face-covering thing and gives it an even more sinister aspect.
I think we live in a very suspicious enviroment now boxy :o(
Takes you back to Mr Toad dressing up as the washerwoman to escape from prison......
don't know if I have heard of this boxy..lol
Go back to your childhood thread bobbi, Wind in the Willows......
arhhhh Toad of Toad Hall?
gotchya x
Everton, why do you keep banging on about prison? Apart from you, I don't believe anyone here has ever mentioned prison. Don't you think you're being a little over-dramatic?

//I don't think I suggested education, certainly not of the type you advocate, compulsorary and at pain of imprisonment.
I suggest dialogue, "talking to them"//

Firstly, I have never suggested compulsory education on pain of imprisonment, and secondly if 'talking to them', as you suggest, is not an attempt to educate, what is it?
