I wonder if there are as many tributes on the facebook tribute page or at the site of the death of Chris Brown - one of the REAL victims of Moat's gun spree?
Question Author
The one thing that bothers me more than anything else is that a policeman (traffic cop) was sitting in his car, and Moat walked up to him and shot him in the face.

Shot...him...in...the...face.

And there are people who are expressing sympathy/empathy whatever with him.

I have to reiterate. He shot a complete stranger in the face because he had a grudge against the police.
they are nutcases, plain and simple!!!!
I am so bloody mad seeing this
I think people simply love to support what they perceive as a stand against the institutions but they need to get their perspectives in order first as to who they choose as a role model.

I'm impressed with the 19 yr old barefoot bandit though. I understand he stole cars, boats and planes. He apparently has a huge facebook following and a film on the way. He was on the news last night.
Not so surprising, there are many on this site that have at times refused to condemn the actions of some other 'savages'.
I know I said to ELVIS yesterday, this is dragging on and on, he took it I meant him posting which it wasn't, whatever has happened will all come out no doubt, later
but this is a new chapter, these people are ghouls, his garden of where he lived has been shown on our local itv News, they were taking clumps of grass as keepsakes f-fs!
PC Rathbone was in danger of having one of his eyes removed yesterday and his hand will be rendered useless from shielding himself from this scum!
Talk about Honour amongst theives !!!!

If you view the Facebook group set up to 'honour' him you will see that many of those who joined did so to say they thought he was scum.

I wouldn't have added anything to it daffy...he's not woth the high profile
I haven't added anything either Bobbi, I just searched it because I was interested to see what they were saying about him on the group. The press have jumped on the amount of members of the group but have not checked how many of those are posting things that are not in favour of Moat.
no, didn't think you would of daffy pet, sorry if you thought that x
sp - This may be interesting to look at:

Of the notes you can read, several of them appear to be from people who knew him personally or had met him in some capacity. I guess it's long been known that even monstrous serial killers (e.g. Bundy, Shipman) always appeared well-balanced and pleasant people. I'm no expert, but I'm willing to bet there's a degree to which people are mourning the fact that they feel they've lost that side of Moat's personality.

While I think it's pretty rare, to take another example you sometimes hear of similar psychology in abusive relationships - the victim sometimes continues to love aspects of the abusive partner's personality, while almost learning to ignore the horrific side. That's quite a different scenario to this one, but I'm willing to bet there's something a little bit like that there.

(Disclaimer: Before any of them jump on me, I am well aware that there are ABers who have left abusive relationships. I am not asserting that this always happens or that it's even common [I have no idea how frequent it is]. But sometimes you do hear of it. I also neither condemn nor condone any of what I've described )

Some good points there - I think what you're referring to is 'Stockholm syndrome'.
The kind of support he received are from his own criminal anti-police fraternity. Its a bit like when NWA were big over here in the early 90s with their gangsta cop killing message, lapped up by white suburban teenagers desperate to escape their mundane exisistance.
