Please read below before i get remarks asking why i would want to do such a thing!

I would never bother but the gun belonged to my dad who died 9 years go when i was 21. We both enjoyed the sport and the gun has alot of sentimental feelings attached to it.

Does anyone know a way i would be able to get it from the UK to the US? The companies that make them are obviousy able to get them from country to country but i don't know if they have special licences to do so. Could it be sent piece by piece maybe and put back together at a later date?

Any help would be apprieciated

Are you accompanying it or just sending it?
If you are accompanying it just contact the airline and seek advice. If not, speak to one of the international couriers like DHL or Fedex for their views.

We are moving there and my partner is going first. I have the option to send it via a postal service after she has gone in September, alternatively i can take it with me when i go in January. Thanks
Just take it with one of you. It can go in the aircraft hold. It`s not classified in the dangerous goods section of carriage becasue a gun isn`t actually dangerous goods, it`s the ammo that is. It will need to be nofified though
We flew to Las Vegas with Virgin in 2008 and in the airport I asked a question about baggage. The rep answered we could even take guns with us in the hold as long as we informed them and then showed us a leaflet saying just that. Unfortunately I can't find anything to back this up so it might have changed but it might be worth contacting them and asking.now
