Peoples Reactions?

As most know,myself and others look after 8 guys,had to take one of my guys to the hospital to get measured for splints,and she can vocalise,i can understand children staring and making comments,but not adults surely?,i am very protective of my guys and for two pennies would say something but i cant!

I don't understand some people's attitudes - it is actually easier to smile than frown. So why not smile at people you see. If anyone tries going out in a wheelchair for the first time they will be amazed at others reactions towards them. Why stare at people who are different from you (in your perception). What if a group of 'service users' goes to a restaurant and sits next to a table of noisy/raucous hen or stag-nighters - do you expect them to leave the restaurant early? Why should someone like poodi feel protective against other people when looking after her 'guys'? Some people have had a very sheltered life is all I can say.

I help out at a social club for adults with learning problems..it never ceases to amaze me how Joe Public i.e "normal" people are so stupid in their attitude to anyone different.. I had avery dear friend who was "disabled" I knew him for all my life.. he was ridiculed,tormented and on occaision beaten .he was avery caring loving man who died last year.. I hope one day people will change their attitudes to people like Eric xx

Elvis, I wouldn't have complained in the restaurant situation, or moved tables - that is just awful. However, I wouldn't choose to sit at a table near someone making a noise in the first place. Same with noisy kids, but I have to say I really think parents should make sure their kids aren't noisy in a restaurant situation. Obviously, people with learning difficulties are totally different. They are adults with problems and should be respected. As ttfn says, 'There but for the grace......................... '
