when you leave school thinking you can get a job then go from £12k to £14k then £16k no problem with a bit of study and hard work then to find out that plans don't always go to plan and Its more of a £10k to £12k to £6.10ph then potentially £14k a year then £5.80 ph. From living away from home with a decent job to working for a crappy company, on your final warning with the worst case scenario being having to move back home.
Anyone else want to share their experience of what they planned and how it worked out?
Why does everyone plan everything these days, life isnt like that,i know that you have to have some hopes, but i work with people, that plan their career, their marriage and the babies, sadly it doesnt always go to plan...
I only intended to stay with BT for a couple of years, but due to changes in my personal life I ended up staying for 32. I can't complain as during that time I changed jobs within the company many times, took exams, and had 5 promotions.....I think it's a bit more difficult starting out nowadays.
I was with a company 14 years, found a decent bloke, bought out first house together at xmas, next step to try for babies then got made redundant in Feb. But there are worse things in life
I wanted to be a vet and get married, have 2 kids and a nice house etc. Stuck in at school but couldn't get my head round physics. Had no idea what else I could do. Got crap advice from my careers officer. I now work part time for the council in a low paid job, am on my second marriage with 1 child from my first and live in a pokey council flat. Not how I imagined my life at all - but hey, I'm happy! :)
